An attractive plein air oil sketch of a lake in the High Sierras. The oil on board measures approx. 10 x 8in. and bears the signature Marion K Wachtel lower right and again on the back of the board (Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel (Pasadena CA 1875 - 1954) was a well listed California painter of the Sierras.) This painting dates to the c1910's and depicts a sunny day in the mountains with an inviting view to a pristine lake. The painting is in generally good condition with some minor scattered flaking to the paint with some retouch to a couple of spots upper center and uneaven varnish.
