1911 Dominion of Canada $1 VERY SCARCE BANKNOTE Serial number 397960 Front: Earl (1851-1917) and Countess (?-1944) Grey, Governor General of Canada 1904-1911Earl Grey was born Albert Henry George Grey, 4th Earl Grey. He was the ninth Governor General of Canada.Earl Grey was educated at Harrow, Trinity College, and Cambridge University where he studied history and law. He served as a Member of Parliament 1880-1886 and became a member of the House of Lords in 1886. He was appointed Governor General of Canada in 1904.Earl Grey married Alice Holford in 1877. Lady Grey was very supportive of her husband's role and duties.
