This wonderful cut glass pitcher has an interesting history in Germany in sailing and the KAC Kaiserlicher Automobile Club.The pitcher with silver lid and handle was for the Muggelsee - Regatten in 1911 Berlin Germany. The top lid of the pitcher is beautifully engraved as follows: Muggelsee - Regatten 1911 , Kaiserlicher Automobil Club , Motor Yacht Club Von Deutchland.This Kaiserlicher Automobil Club was started in the late 1880's and is still in existence today under another name, the AvD. I am not sure if the sailboat race still exists but it did up to 1998, I found an article about it in the Berliner Zeitung Newspaper.The pitcher I believe was probably a trophy for the race. The pitcher is beautiful brilliant cut glass which I suppose is German made. The sterling silver mounted rim, lid, knob and handle was made by Gerbruder Friedlander and is marked Gebr. Friedlander with a crescent & crown, 800 and an H. The Friedlander Brothers were an upsale silver manufacture and retailer in Germany from the mid 1800's through1920's I believe. The silver is in very good condition.T is a ding in the handle as shown in the picture. The cut glass pitcher has a few tiny nicks in it but very tiny and not at all noticeable.
