is a beautiful and delicate Pink Colored Silk which was found in a pack of Old Mill Cigarettes in 1911. The set is designated S74 in the American Card Catalog. On the satin-like fabric is a picture (identical to the T205 Gold Border set) of Jake Daubert, brilliant First Baseman for the Brooklyn Superbas (who became the Dodgers next year). Daubert hit .307 in 1911 (his sophomore year) and went on to a should-be-Hall-of-Fame career in which he won the batting title and the MVP Award in 1913, won the batting title again in 1914 and was still a star after 15 years when he died following an appendectomy in 1924. He had a lifetime BA of .303. The Silk itself is a gorgeous pink, with a pristine surface and minimal fraying. The only defect I can see is that the picture is slightly tilted on the fabric. Please see the scan. The back is perfect; I'll be glad to send a scan to anyone who requests one. $2.00 s/h. No PayPal; personal check is OK. Sports Collectors Digest says these Silks are "popular with advanced collectors." I say this is a Silk any collector will cherish.
