GRANNY'S OLD SINGER
PATENT JUNE 14, 1910
MODEL # G3175769
ORIGINAL MACHINE IN ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL OAK CABINET
THIS GREAT OLD HEIRLOOM WAS PASSED DOWN TO ME FROM MY LATE AUNT WHO KEPT IT IN PRISTINE CONDITION AFTER MY GRANDMOTHER'S PASSING IN THE 1950'S. MY AUNT NEVER USED IT AND ONLY KEPT IT AS A DISPLAY PIECE, POLISHING IT AS A FINE PIECE OF FURNITURE, WHICH IT TRULY IS. I HAVE HAD IT SINCE THE LATE 70'S AND HAVE TREATED IT THE SAME WAY.
THIS FANTASTIC SLICE OF HISTORY IS STILL AS MY GRANDMOTHER LEFT IT. IT IS STILL FULL OF OLD BUTTONS AND VARIOUS MENDING ITEMS, AS WELL AS A STRIP OF FABRIC STILL UNDER THE NEEDLE!
THE CABINET HAS THE ORIGINAL GOLDEN OAK FINISH AND IS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION. T ARE 6 SIDE DRAWERS, WITH FINELY TOOLED FACES AND RECESSED WOODEN KNOBS. THE SIDE PANELS ARE EMBELLISHED WITH CARVED WOODEN APPLIQUES AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE.
THE MACHINE IS BEAUTIFULLY DETAILED WITH GOLD LETTERING AND DESIGNS, SOME OF WHICH ARE NATURALLY RUBBED W ONE HOLDS THE MACHINE WHEN REPLACING IT BACK INTO THE CABINET. T IS AN OVAL STAMPED BRASS PLATE ON ONE SIDE READING SINGER SEWING MACHINE COMPANY. ON THE BACK SIDE T IS AN ENGRAVED ROUND PLATE THAT ALLOWS ACCESS TO THE INTERNAL MACHINEREY.
IT HAS A BRAND NEW BELT. OTHER THAN THAT AND AN ANNUAL OILING OF THE WORKINGS, IT'S BEEN UNUSED FOR OVER 50 YEARS, BUT EVERYTHING FUNCTIONS BEAUTIFULLY. ONE COULD SEW THAT NEW PROM DRESS ON IT TOMORROW!
I HATE TO SELL IT, BUT MY SON HAS NO INTEREST IN IT AND WOULD RATHER USE THE PROCEEDS FOR HIS COLLEGE EXPENSES, WHICH ARE A LITTLE HIGHER TODAY THAN WHEN THIS FINE MACHINE WAS MADE.
I HOPE IT GOES TO SOMEONE WHO APPRECIATES IT AS MUCH AS MY GRANDMOTHER DID.
AFTER QUITE A BIT OF FIGURING, I HAVE CONCLUDED IT IS BETTER AND MORE ECONOMICAL TO SHIP THIS DISASSEMBLED, IN 2 BOXES. (THE TREADLE IN 1, AND THE CABINET W/MACHINE IN THE 2ND)
THE TREADLE FRAME WORK ATTACHES BACK TO THE CABINET VERY EASILY WITH LITTLE MORE THAN A SCREWDRIVER AND PLIERS. (I WILL SEND DETAILS & PICTURES TO SHOW REASSEMBLY) IT WILL SHIP FLAT IN A BOX MEASURING ABOUT 32 IN. X 28 IN. X 20 IN. WEIGHING ABOUT 45 #
THE CABINET CAN BE PACKED INTO A BOX MEASURING ABOUT 40 IN. X 22 IN. X 20 IN., AND WILL WEIGH ABOUT 45 # AS WELL.
TFORE, I WILL LIST THE DIMENSIONS FOR THE CABINET AS A REFERENCE AND THE BUYER SHOULD DOUBLE THIS COST TO ARRIVE AT A CALCULATED SHIPPING COST. PLEASE REMEMBER TO CONSIDER THIS WHEN BIDDING!
INSURANCE OF MINIMUM $500 WILL BE REQUIRED.
LOCAL PICKUP IS AVAILABLE IN THE DFW AREA, OR WILL DELIVER WITHIN 200 MILE RADIUS OF ROCKWALL TX AT A NEGOTIATED PRICE. EMAIL ME FOR QUOTE TO YOUR DELIVERY POINT.
In regards to whether or not this could arrive by Christmas, I believe so. T are still over 20 days left before the 23rd, and probably, even conventional UPS could easily arrive by then.
T seems to be some confusion on estimated/calculated shipping costs. As stated in the description and elsew, I plan on disassembling the treadle section and shipping it in ONE box. The 2nd box will contain the machine and cabinet.. I have gotten online quotes from UPS based on the weight and dimensions of the larger of the two.
UPS is considering EACH to be OVERSIZE 2, WEIGHING 71 LBS EACH for rating purposes, and the price you see for calculated costs reflect this, which includes handling & shipping material cost.
SO PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE SHIPPING COST THAT IS SHOWING UNDER THE CALCULATED COST PER YOUR ZIP CODE SHOULD BE DOUBLED TO ALLOW FOR 2 PACKAGES!
I have run these calculated costs for 3 different Zip Codes, including New Jersey, and they seem to be consistent.
I'm sorry for the confusion, but I am only trying to save the buyer some money on shipping it this way vs. Freight, and I am open to any alternate shipping method desired by the ultimate winner.
If for some reason UPS i...
