A RARE 1914/15 STAR TRIO to PRIVATE (Later SERJEANT) CROWE who served in the SOUTH AFRICAN FIELD TELEGRAPH & POSTAL CORPS during the GERMAN SOUTH WEST AFRICA (1914 - 15) & in the 1st South African Signal Company on the WESTERN FRONT (1916 - 1918). Having fought on the SOMME in 1916, he later took part in the defeat of the major attack by the Elite German 'FLANDERS MARINE KORPS' at NIEUPOORT in July 1917 & the battles of 1918. Consists of 1914/15 Star correctly named to PTE. F. C. CROWE. S.A.F.T & P.O CORPS, British War Medal & Bilingual Victory Medal correctly named to SJT. F. C. CROWE. D.S.C. Private (Later Sergeant) Crowe first served with the small, specialised unit - S.A.F.T & P.O against the Germans in German South West Africa (Modern NAMIBIA) between August 1914 - May 1915. After the campaign ended, he joined the 1st South African Signal Company first seeing action with the South African Brigade at the SOMME in late 1916.After making a major contribution during the Battle of Monchy-Le-Preux (Arras) in April 1917, Crowe & the S.A Signal Company transferred to XV Corps in preparation for an amphibious attack (Operation HUSH) on the Flanders coast in support of the Third Battle of YPRES (Passchendaele).
