You are bidding on a Ultra Rare Bronze/Copper Medallion/Coin presented to George Washington Watts from the Advertising Golf Association(AGA) in Pinehurst,North Carolina.This medallion/coin came from a estate sale in chapel hill.After doing hours of research I found that Mr. Watts played and was a fifth division winner in 1914 at Pinehurst.The PGA was started in 1916.This item is in very nice shape for its age.No damage and has the original patina.The fronts shows a Ram and reads ADVERTISING GOLF ASSOCIATION PINEHURST,N.C. The back has G.W. WATTS engraved.Measures 1 1/2" wide and tall. George Washington Watts (18 August 1851 - 7 March 1921) was an American manufacturer, financier and philanthropist. Alongside James B. Duke, he co-founded the American Tobacco Company , as well as Watts Hospital , the first hospital in Durham , North Carolina , which prompted the establishment of Duke University . Born in Cumberland , Maryland George W. Watts was the son of Gerard Snowden Watts and Ann Elizabeth Wolvington. He received his early education in private schools in Baltimore and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1871 with a degree in civil engineering. After graduation, Watts joined his father's tobacco commission business in Baltimore. Becoming associated with Washington Duke of Durham, North Carolina in 1878, he helped organize read more
