China (Kansu Province) - 1914 (3) - 1 Dollar (Yuan) - .890 Silver - 26.4 g
This coin depicts the portrait of Yuan Shih-kai, the president of Republic of China from 1912 to 1916" Note : Krause World Catalog listed coin with " Kan " and " Su " characters under Y# 407. Coin auctioning does NOT have these two characters, but belongs to the Kansu variety due to some differences to general mint issue (i.e.: check the eyelid of old man - the bottom part of the Chinese character "yuan" (dollar) is not closed in this Kansu variety) Krause catalog values this coin (with two characters) in Very Good condition at $180, Fine - at $300, Very Fine - $600, etc. I've learned that the variety without characters is even more scarce Note: T is a long scratch on obverse side around 5 o'clock near the edge, t are also few scratches on reverse side, but overall the coin is in very collectible condition Please look at the pictures and grade this rare coin for yourself.
