Here is an original 1915 Explorer's Club Annual dinner booklet. The dinner was held at the Hotel Astor in New York. The booklet is four pages long and measures approx 5 1/2" x 7". It contains the menu, list of speakers and club officers. The president of the club at this time was Rear Admiral Robert Peary. He was also one of the speakers. The other speakers where: Captain Robert A. Bartlett ; led over 40 artic expositions. Captain of the Roosevelt. In 1914, Bartlett’s leadership in the doomed Karluk Expedition helped save the lives of most of its stranded participants after leader Vilhjalmur Steansson abandoned the expedition. After being stranded for several months, Bartlett and Inuit hunter Kataktovik walked 700 miles from over the ice of the Chukchi Sea and across Seberia and then mounted an expedition to rescue his surviving companions on Wrangel Island. Sir Douglas Mawson ; Mawson’s 1911–1914 expedition successfully charted Antarctic coastline, investigated the ocean between Australia and Antarctica and examined Macquarie Island. Burt M. McConnell ; The booklet is in excellent condition with slight discoloration on upper corner of the cover and some of the names have light pencil check marks next to them.
