A colorful antique 8 1/4" wide china CALENDAR PLATE advertising C.M. SITTON of DOS PALOS, CALIFORNIA . Plate features a Dutch boy & girl with the boy leaning in for a kiss and asking "vell?". Around the plate are the 12 calendar months for the year 1916. Plate reads: " VELL? / COMPLIMENTS OF / C. M. SITTON, / DOS PALOS, CAL." Makers Mark on backside reads: (D. G. McNICOL / POTTERY CO. / EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO) Condition: Plate has typical crazing and some fading to the gold gilt rim and the lettering. T's a small chip at the 12:00 position and a tiny flake at 7:00 and a hard-to-notice hairline through the month of May. Please see pictures for details. Not bad considering it's age. Age: An antique plate ca. 1916. Nice detail in the picture on this plate--wooden shoes and everything. Dos Palos is in Merced County, California and comes from the Spanish Words meaning 'two trees'.
