. This is the program for the 1916 American tour of Serge de Diaghileff's Ballet Russe. It is an elegant book, softcover with gilt lettering and design, and bound with a cord and one staple. Title page states: SOUVENIR - SERGIE DE DIAGHILEFF'S BALLET RUSSE With ORIGINALS BY LEON BAKST AND OTHERS. Metropolitan Ballet Compan y, Inc., New York . 9.5in x 12.5in. Unpaginated, 40 pages counted. The frontispiece is a sepia tone illustration: "Serge de Diagehileff et sa Vielle Bonne, b y Bakst. T are 13 beautiful full-page drawings in color, 1 black-and-white, of various costumed dancers (see sample). The centerfold is a 2 page color drawing of a scene (decors) from Schezade. T are full page sepia-tone photographs of the dancers - Xenia Maklezowa; Adolf Bolm; Lubov Tchernichowa and Leonide Massin; Flore Revalles; Leonide Massin; Flore Revalles and Adolf Holm together; Lubov Tchernichowa; Enrico Cecchetti;L ydia Sokolova and Nicholas Kremneff together. The booklet gives credits and a brief s ynopsis of each dance in the repertoire: Le Spectre de La Rose; Narcisse; Schezade; Sadko; Thamar; Le Carnaval of Schumann; Prince Igor; Petrouchka; Snegourotchka; Daphnes et Chloe; L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune; Le Dieu Bleu; Cleopatra. The 1916 itinerar y of Diaghilev's Compan y, "which makes its first American Tour this season after six y ears of consistent success in Europe, starts with a two weeks' engagement at the Centur y Theatre in New York . The tournee comprises also performances a the following cities: Boston , Alban y, Chicago , Detroit , Milwaukee , St. Palu, Minneapolis , Kansas Cit y, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia and Atlantic Cit y. The Diaghileff troupe spends its last four weeks in America at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York , w it replaces opera during the month of April." The booklet states that " America is fortunate in being offered a dazzling repertoire in which ever phase of their amazing versatilit y will be given full scope." The booklet has 3 advertisements; one pasted in on the inside back cover, for American Tobacco Co. Another is a full page ad for The Columbia Grafonola, apparentl y the catalog for Columbia Records; and the other is for Hardman Pianos, "used exclusivel y at all presentations of Serge de Diaghileff's Ballet Russe." The Sackett & Wilhelms Compan y, New York is credited as engraving and printing this beautiful memento of this great ballet company. The edges of the cover have some slight wrinkles as they extend be yond the page edges.The pages themselves are all smooth, clean, intact. This deluxe program is in near fine condition. As for international payments: I accept international money order (Western Union or postal money order is fine), or Cashier's or bank check from USA bank or affiliate, in US dollars. I also accept Western Union Money Transfers, available online by credit card at . Cash in US dollars is also fine, but this is at your risk. I have had no problems previously from international buyers sending cash; I was told by one that sending cash by registered mail is safer, but still at your risk. I do not accept PayPal.
