Up for sale today is this beautiful example of Americana, a 1916 White Family Rotary treadle sewing machine in the sought after 'Twiggy' cabinet. The Twiggy name is derived from the fact that the White name on the face of the cabinet is spelled out in twigs. Note also that this beautiful tiger oak (quarter sawn oak) cabinet is the 6 drawer model with the top drawer on each side nearly totally hidden by the absence of a pull. The only cosmetic issues on the cabinet are several small chips off the edge of the veneer on the flip over top. The machine is on a cable lift so that when you lift the lid, the machine rises up as you flip open the lid. This sale also includes an instruction manual, a complete set of White FR attachments in a tin box, and several extra White bobbins. This White uses the standard 15x1 needle - available everyw Even though I collect machines and do not use them all, this is one that I have completed several small projects on and it is a pleasure to operate. It is serial number FR2501146, made in 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. I cannot emphasize more strongly the quality of the woodwork in the cabinet for this treadle. Consider that the drawer front, sides, and rear are made out of one continuous piece of thin tiger oak which wraps around the corners. The drawer pulls are all wood carved and none are broken as frequently
