1917 - Antique Hamilton Drafting Table by the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. Two Rivers - Wisconsin. Cast Iron Legs & Hardware along with it's Original factory flat black painted Maple upper frame are in Found Condition. I only cleaned the table base. The wooden drawing surface measures 60" (5'-0") x 36" deep x just over 1" thick - made up of Southern Yellow Pine w/ It's original Red Oak clamp boards on each end - originally used as a straight edge for a T-square, It's drawing surface is still riddled with thousand of compass & divider pin holes - The pin holes stained black as they are Embedded with graphite from the past 90+ years of use. The finish was removed, the surface sanded down & 3 coats of a golden oak minwax was applied - It was just enough to make the patina & amazing grain of the old growth board really stand out, I also applied 3 coats of bee's wax to protect the surface. The photos don't do this justice. The board is complete with all it's original hardware included -I've also had the cast iron hardware & Red Oak footrest added to minic an original - In the restoration, I tried not to hide what the boards been for the last 90 years - from the compass holes, scratches, X-acto knife blades, screw holes to it's Dings & Dents all over the board (it's seen years of use & abuse) that now only adds to it's amazing character. This Piece would look great as a Kitchen Island, In a Restaurant as a table or bar, used as a Desk or it's intended purpose a Drafting table, Everything works great - Over-all everything moves up & down from 35" to 46" AFF ( above finished floor) and tilts as expected- up to an 85* - It's an Amazing piece from our Industrial Age.
