1917 TEXAS FIRST ISSUE PASSENGER
LICENSE PLATES PAIR # 47679 These plates have been sandblasted and primed. As can be seen in the photos, these plates are SUPER straight and have no dents and no extra holes. T is some pitting on bottom plate in photos. One plate was painted with a coat of blue enamel and primed over, so if you are planning to use a paint (such as laquer) that is not compatible to be sprayed over enamel, you would probably want to strip and reprime the plates. The metal on these plates is very thick and if you have ever tried to straighten out any dents on Texas First Issue plates, you know it is a very rough task. A very dented up plate is almost impossible to get looking decent again. These First Issue Base Plates were issued from 1917 through 1922 and were validated with a small metal radiator seal. Being 5 digit plates makes them a true 1917 year of issue pair of plates as only about 200,000 or less plates were issued the first year. Original colors for these plates were White numbers on a Dark Blue background.
