1918/7-S Liberty Standing Quarter Dollar. NGC graded AU-55. A well struck example with the overdate quite distinct. Some luster remains. A very desirable untoned example of this key-date rarity. In describing it in greater detail, we see there is baking bright luster extending well across the satiny surfaces on this high end About Uncirculated example. A touch of weakness may be noted at Liberty`s head of course (full heads are elusive), but clearly the dies were spaced just close enough to impart strong metal flow in the main obverse and reverse devices. After-striking features include a short mark on Liberty`s thigh and two or three little ticks on the edge of the eagle`s wing -- nothing special or out of the ordinary. Bidders will want to focus on the attractive color and silvery luster of this rare overdate. Pop 18; 75 finer (PCGS # 5726).
