Here is a very interesting photo album dating from about 1918. The album seems divided into three sections, telling the story of a few years in the life of a young man. There are two sections that include photos mostly centered on Oxford University and a large middle section on Camp Knox (later Fort Knox) and the young man's service, apparently in the 69th Field Artillery, beginning in 1918. There are also some interesting photos of mountain climbing and very interesting photos of rowing on the Thames. There are about 165 photos in all. The section that can be definitively dated to 1918 contains photographs of Camp Knox (later Fort Knox) in the year it was established, and other military photos. There are photos of groups of soldiers - arranged by platoon? - in overcoats standing on fields; photos of smaller groups of men, presumably officers - one is marked "officers of the 69th F.A. Camp Knox December 10, 1918". Other similar groups from same time are not labeled by unit. There are photos of tents at West Point, KY (Camp Knox) labeled "tents of the69th FA", one is labeled "adjutant's tent." Photos of buildings that are presumably barracks at Camp Knox, photos of individual soldiers - sometimes positioned near unidentified buildings - likewise photos of groups of soldiers. A photo of soldiers with rifles following a horse and buggy, read more
