1915-1923 RARE ANTIQUE SCIENTIFIC AMERICANA INSTRUMENT - SIGNED "LEEDS & NORTHRUP CO. " PHILADELPHIA 'ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE GALVANOMETER' LABORATORY TESTING INSTRUMENT in ORIGINAL OAK BOX. This is a rare antique signed "Leeds & Northrup Co." scientific instrument that tests and determines electrical resistance. The origins of this company began with Morris E. Leeds, who in 1899 founded the "Morris E. Leeds & Co.". In 1903 Leeds takes Dr. Edwin F. Northrup into partnership and the firm's name changes to "Leeds & Northrup Co." and became the premier maker of quality scientific laboratory testing instruments such as electrical measurement apparatuses, bridges, and galvanometers such as the one offered here. The instrument is signed with a metal plaque which has company name & serial numbers to aid in dating of piece, it reads: LEEDS & NORTHRUP CO. PHILADELPHIA PATENTED SER. NO. 89069 MADE IN U.S.A. (please see close-up pic included). The box measures approx. 9" long x 4.5" tall x almost 4" wide.
