EARLY 1900'S CONVERSE WOODED ADVERTISING SIGN CRATE WOW Description: This is an original old Converse shoes wooden railroad shipping crate. The dovetailed wood box measures 31.5" long x 18.25" wide x 13.5" tall. The long sides each have wonderful graphics burned into the wood with CONVERSE LOOK FOR THE BIG C slogan and the CONVERSE RUBBER SHOE CO. 100% EXTRA GOOD QUALITY slogan. Each long side also has a light STANDARD RAILROAD CONTAINER marking in red. The short sides each have markings, some of which are incomplete or difficult to fully read. Readable marks on one short side are MENS BLACK/FRICTION LINED/TRIPLE TREAD/7 10/ 12 PRS. The other short side has readable marks NOTT-ATWATER SPOKANE, WASH. Nott-Atwater is a company that has been in spokane for nearly 100 years. I have been unable to date the box, but you converse collectors may know from the slogans and logos used. I think it is about 1915-1920. It is definitely an ideal container for displaying and or storing your collection of vintage Converse, and is likely one of a kind. The box is not flimsy, remains very sturdy and usable. Graphics are better on one long side than the other, although both have nice display value and could be removed and used as original old signage if you prefer. The one side is particularly bold and striking. T are some normal age cracks in the read more
