This scarce card was issued by the Weber Baking Company of Irvington New Jersey , as a premium advertising their Onist Milk and Pullman Bread. It is one from a series of 30 cards entitled , “Presidents of the United States ”. Burdick list the series as D68 in his American Card Catalogue. Unfortunately he does not provide a date of issue. However the last card in the series is President Coolidge, who was in office when this set was issued. He held the presidency from 1923 to 1929 so this set must have been issued sometime during that time period. It features a sepia toned portrait illustration of one of the Presidents of the United States of America . The back of the card mentions that cards would be packed with the product for the next two months and also features advertising for Weber products. It also mentions that the company would, in exchange for 20 cards send you a booklet featuring the biographies and portraits of the Presidents, and that they would also return the cards back to you. When they did this they usually clipped the corners of the cards to discourage dishonest customers from just sending the same cards back to them again for another booklet.
