Very rare 1920 political campaign songsters for the Democratic candidates for U.S. Senator and Governor from the Hoosier State! Both measure 5 1/2" by 7 1/2"and fold out into an 11 by 15 piece of sheet music! Dr. Carleton B. McCulloch, one of the most highly respected political leaders in the state, was the choice for Governor and his theme song of " Home Rule" pretty much sums up his position on foreign affairs! A need for isolation from the affairs of Europe and other nations was very strong in the Midwest in this first presidental campaign of the post-war and the thought of "bringing everything back home" was appealing to many voters. Democratic items from this campaign are all elusive starting with the scarcity of James Cox items and extending to candidates for state and local office! T is only a single known campaign button for McCulloch and nothing with his photo, save a single poster. In the case of the songster for Tom Taggert, Democratic politico and owner of the famous French Lick Health Resort, t are no other known items that can be traced directly to this campaign at all! Taggert's theme song of "Taggert, We Want a Man Like You" is somewhat ironic in that old Tom was known for his ability as a political "organizer" and was considered a pretty unsavory character in Republican circles!
