With "Hot Rod" painted in white on the side, this vintage Remy Electric horn has a tag that says "6 volt - Klaxon 12C. It's a 6 volt so I cannot hook it up to see if it works. This is pre-1927, which is the year Delco and Remy merged. The horn is nearly 13" long and about 6" at its widest. Background on the company: Remy Electric started as a home wiring business in 1896 when the two brothers, Frank and Perry Remy settled in Anderson, Indiana on their way West. T they found all the resources and opportunities they needed to set up shop and stake their futures. The Remy Electric Company found its wings with the emergence of the "horseless carriage" and its need for electrical components. The brothers developed a practical sparking device, called a magneto, for cars. Their high-tension magneto was one of the best for that time and a feature of the 1905 Buick. Sparking engines with the reliable Remy Magneto demonstrated that the small company in Indiana could deliver just what the industry needed and positioned Remy at the top of manufacturers' supplier lists. By 1910, magneto production reached 50,000 units per year. As technology changes in the auto industry were phasing the magneto out in favor of battery ignition, the Remys decided to get out of the business and in 1911 they sold it to S.
