Very rare champleve 1920's Gray radiator body trim emblem in chipped but good condition. There is a Bastian Bros. rear maker's mark. The ruled scale in the picture is graduated in inches. Please check the pictures and email me with any questions. I will refund the moneys sent minus the shipping and ebay costs upon return of the item in the same condition as sent. I've had a lot of people email me asking me what the heck I mean by champleve when referring to emblems, so here we go. I used to call emblems containing glass cloisonne until I was corrected by one of the premier emblem restorers in California. She counseled me on the error of my ways and I promised her I'd correct my word usage. Champleve: An emblem-to-be is die stamped into a softer metal like copper or brass alloys. A glass paste of tiny glass balls of the desired color is applied into the channels in the emblem. The piece is fired to melt the glass into a thin skin on the emblem.
