RARE AND ORIGINAL 1920's FULL FIGURE 8 3/4" HUBLEY " MAMMY with HANDS on HIP " FULL FIGURE CAST IRON DOOR STOP DOORSTOP IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL PAINT! Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, PA produced these doorstops in the early twentieth century in two sizes, both quite large. (See photo from John and Nancy Smithâe(tm)s " The Doorstop Book " and last photo, larger Mammy offered in separate auction, read comments below) This one is the smaller of the two, measuring 8 3/4" tall and 5 1/2" wide. They came in black, blue, red, yellow and green dresses, with white aprons and white spotted bandanas. This blue dress one, with red bandana, has most of its original paint, as you can see from the photos. T is some chipping at the lower part of the back edge. The screw has never been removed and still has paint and putty covering it. These "Mammy" figures are sometimes called "Aunt Jemima" Doorstops and are highly sought after Black Americana objects. Hubley impressed their name on the inside of the larger 12" models, but did not mark the smaller ones. Authentic and Coveted Hubley Black Americana object from the 1920's -1930's Great Depression Era! Valued at $450+. NO RESERVE and FREE SHIPPING with INSURANCE INCLUDED . I am offering the larger size Hubley "Southern Mammy with Hands on Hip" in a separate auction. (See last photo)
