This auction is for a nice 1920s vintage Philmore Selective Crystal Radio Receiving Set.
This was Philmore's deluxe model with a 6-position tap switch that allowed the user to Select different taps on the internal coil and have better selectivity. Aerial and Ground connections are marked on the left binding terminals, and Headphone connections are marked on the right terminals. The crystal detector uses a cats whisker (wire) touching a galena crystal, and there is a dial for tuning in stations. The cabinet is metal with textured paint.
Good condition. See photos. Top, sides, and back all have the original black textured paint, with a few minor blemishes, but still in very nice condition for its age. The 'Philmore' decal on top is partially missing. The front panel is missing one small screw. It has the original crystallized 'Silver' finish in good condition although there is some light corrosion or dirt in some areas. The glass dome over the crystal has two cracks in it, so it is fragile, but at least it is still here since these domes are commonly missing.
