1920s Candlestick Telephone & Ringer Box Up for bids is this gorgeous Western Electric candlestick telephone. It is a fully restored original 1920s telephone and metal 634 ringer box. Both the phone and ringer box were dismantled, cleaned, tested and then meticulously put back together. They have a new black powder coating professionally applied. It is fully functional on today's phone lines and is ready to plug into a modern jack (RJ11) and use. Check with your dial tone line provider but the vast majority will accept pulse/rotary dialing. Great care has been taken to keep this telephone and ringer box as close to the original as possible. The only non-original parts are the new replica cords, felt bottom on the candlestick and the receiver cap. The old style diaphragm transmitters were noisy and of very poor sound quality. A Western Electric T-1 transmitter capsule that is used in a modern 500/2500 type phone was installed to ensure superior sound quality. All other parts are the original ones found on the phone and ringer box. The receiver is made of Bakelite and is in wonderful condition. The #2 dial works well and has the loud clickity-clack sound of a vintage rotary dial. It is highly desirable due to its increasing scarcity, the finger-stop mounted on the outside of the dial and loud clicking compared to the later made dials. read more
