1920's Westinghouse Brass 2 Speed 6 Blade Electric Fan This is a rare. 6 blade, Westinghouse, multiple speed, non-oscillating desk/table fan. My wife purchased this at a church auction, thinking I would have the time to restore it for use in our bedroom. However, not only do I not have the time, but now that the kids are 3 and 5 years old and these fans were made waaay before any kind of child safety testing existed. -Heavy electric motor, attached to sharp brass blades and a "safety" cage just big enough to allow a curious child's finger through, simply do not make a worry free situation. I've seen recent auctions for these fans run from $200 to $500 dollars for fans in much worse condition than this one. First, the positives: Brass 6 bladed cage fan -RARE- All 6 blades are in good shape, just need polish to bring back the shine Blades spin smooth and easily, so we know the motor is not seized. Black enamal is 99% complete and would polish up beautifully. Now the negatives: Wire cage is missing two of the cage bars (but are easily made from simple brass round stock or taken from another fan) Original power cord has frayed away and I cannot test the fan (see pic of frayed cord) Shipping will be $28 dollars in the US. Fan is very heavy and I will pack VERY carefully to protect cage and blades. -Local pickup is always free. read more
