THE COIN PICTURED IS THE ACTUAL COIN YOU ARE BIDDING ON AND WILL RECEIVE!1922-DOver 15 million Peace dollars were made in Denver in 1922 and, although some of these have been melted or otherwise lost, t is certainty that most of this issue still exists. This date received an average strike in most respects, but a number of specimens exist with a weak reverse. Mint luster is good, and on some pieces, even outstanding. As is typical with many Peace dollars, most of the issue is severely bagmarked.Experienced dealers estimate that 5% of the existing 1922-D coins are still in mint condition. Some readers may feel that this estimate is too low, but collectors and investors should be aware that a tremendous number of lightly circulated specimens are available. Many times, buyers of this date end up with an attractive AU-55 “superslider” when they thought they were buying an uncirculated piece. About 85% of the Mint State coins are classified as MS-60, with the remaining 15% falling into the MS-65 category. Gems are difficult to find. The reasons for the high incidence of MS-60 coins are heavy bagmarks and strike weaknesses. Some 1922-D coins were struck with cracked dies and the uneven impression can be seen on the specimens so affected. Many collectors confuse these with bagmarks.(Information contained above is from James B.
