Beautiful, working ACE V one-tube radio manufactured in 1923 by Precision Radio Co. (and later Crosley) of Cincinnati, Ohio. Precision was purchased by Crosley in 1923 so that Powel Crosley, Jr. could avail himself of Precision's Armstrong license. This ACE radio, which is in outstanding condition throughout, was the forerunner to the Crosley 50, and its simple but reliable circuit makes it a great radio with which to "test the waters" if you're trying to familiarize yourself with how to set up and operate an early 20's battery set. As you can see in the photographs, the radio's panel is almost perfect. The original lettering is better than 95%, and t are no cracks, chips, scratches or other blemishes. The cabinet is just as nice as the panel, and as Crosley/Precision cabinets go, you don't find them much nicer. The book condenser and spiderweb coil inside the set are both exceptionally clean and operating perfectly, and the tube included has good emissions and will likely last quite a while before needing to be replaced. This radio has been tested with a longwire outdoor antenna and an ARBEIII power supply, and it works great, pulling in plenty of local and distant stations both day and night. If you have a set of vintage headphones and a 20 foot antenna (even an indoor antenna will work with this set), you can operate this radio pretty easily. Just hook it up to a 6 volt lantern battery and 3 nine-volt batteries wired together in series, and you're good to go. A longer antenna will allow you to tune in more stations, and a good regulated power supply (such as an ARBEIII, available online) will let you use the radio at length without having to replace the batteries. I'll include professional reproductions of 2 early Crosley pamphlets which you can display with the set (and of course read). Will also send along a brief tutorial on how to operate this ACE and other early regenerative battery sets (if you'd like it). I'm listing many other collector-quality audible antiques this week, so make sure to check out my other auctions. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay with confirmed address.
