'Hongkong' ~ H ONG K ONG ~ 1924 CANADIAN PACIFIC STEAMSHIPS Travel Guide MACAO ( Macau ) included in text, with photographs Published in 1924 by Canadian Pacific Steamships Printed in U.S.A. On sale is this vintage soft-cover pocket-size guide book, measuring 120mm (4¾") x 185mm (7¼") and consisting of 12 pages plus soft covers. The covers are of flimsy oriental tissue-like paper folded double. The inside pages are a linen-type quality paper. In this guide t are some excellent photographs of Hong Kong circa 1920, plus a couple taken in Macau at that time with the text describing the Portuguese colony even then as 'the Monte Carlo of the East' (see scans below). CONDITION: This rare collectible needs to be handled with care (!) Cover is tearing along the spine. As a security measure I am sealing the item after listing it for sale, while almost half the cover fold is still secure. Covers are worn and creased at edges and corners. Text pages lightly browned. Binding is with staples that have rusted, intact at time of listing. S&H for delivery in Hong Kong = US$0.75 (or US$2.50 by Registered Mail) S&H for delivery to Macau = US$1.25 (or US$3.00 by Registered Surface Mail) S&H for delivery to China , Taiwan , Korea , South-East Asia (excluding Japan ) = US$2.25 (or US$4.00 by Registered Airmail) S&H for delivery to Japan , North & South America, Europe, Australia , South Africa = US$2.50 (or US$4.25 by Registered Airmail) NB : Hongkong Post imposes a reasonable charge for Registration - HK$13 (US$1.75). Seller encourages buyers to have items sent by Registered Delivery and charges for this security at actual cost. When invoicing, S&H cost including Registration fee will be shown if seller considers value of the item/s, or the destination, warrant it. Buyer is advised on invoice to deduct US$1.75 as a 'discount' if declining a registered delivery (at buyer's risk). Should an unregistered item be lost in the postal system, seller will not under normal circumstances entertain a claim. Buyers are assured that seller takes due care with packing and addressing of packages. Combined shipment : For multi-item purchases, the seller is happy to minimise shipping & handling costs by combining shipment - provided auctions close within 72 hours of each other. In such a case, the buyer is requested to await receipt of seller's invoice or e-mail advice showing the combined S&H cost before making payment. Methods of Payment Seller prefers payment by PayPal . Buyers in Hong Kong may settle in equivalent HK$ by directly crediting seller's account at HSBC. Buyers in Australia may credit equivalent AUD directly to seller's NAB account. Other buyers are requested to enquire before bidding whether an alternative method of payment is acceptable to the seller. NB: SELLER DOES NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT BY MONEY ORDER . Winning bidder, please note: You are requested to effect payment, or to communicate with the seller, within 72 hours of close of auction.
