I recently purchased a large accumulation of track and field photos ranging from the 1920s to the 1980s... this 1924 photo features Frank Wendling as he prepares for the Olympic Marathon....Wendling finished third in the race referred to on the back as the Ashland to Boston Marathon (this photo may have been from that race, although caption doesn't make that entirely clear)....I believe Wendling finished 16th in the Olympic marathon (if my research is correct, not stated on the caption sheet).....caption sheet has date 240729 at the top, which should mean July 29, 1924 (also handwritten date 1924 on back)....mentions, however, that he sails for the Olympics on May 24th in the same caption...confusing...may have meant that the Olympics were to be held on July 29th???....has some surface wrinkles and scratches, but not bad for 90 years old... . I try to price things fairly in the store, not padded or doubled to make room for offers.As a result, I don’t generally take counter-offers on items that I have listed. On occasion, I will have sales on selected merchandise of my choice; if you want to wait for a sale, that is certainly your option, but it will be at a time of my choosing..thanks for understanding my attempt to give the same opportunity and price to all customers. This is a husband/wife operation, despite what you might think from the number of lots we run...while we would like to send out everything the minute your payment comes in, we can't always do our other jobs and get everything out that day! Many weekends I am setting up at shows; payments that come in toward the end of the week (Thursday-Sunday) probably won’t be shipped until Monday or Tuesday ....If your order hasn't arrived within 10 days after payment, please let us know that you haven't received something; we may not have gotten a paypal confirmation and may still be waiting for payment! Satisfaction guaranteed or money back (no partial refunds with item kept, however, as these encourage people to hairsplit over condition)......a card I describe as nr.mt-mt. generally doesn't have any problems that I notice; I don't grade items mint just in case I miss something small.......I try really hard to grade accurately, but I'm human.....every once in a while I'll completely fall asleep at the wheel and grade something nr.mt. which has tire tracks on it and has been used as a pincushion....if so, it is totally accidental ....if you happen to be the unlucky recipient of such a lot, a POLITE e-mail to that effect will get you a prompt refund just as soon as we get the item back....so will an e-mail talking about my parentage and my integrity, honestly, but it will be a whole lot more pleasant for both of us if you realize that I'm not out to get you! read more
