1924 Wedgwood EDME Queens Ware FOOTED ROUND COMPOTE · measures approx. 3¼" tall x 9" in diameter Up for auction is a vintage (early 1920's - 1924 to be exact) piece Wedgwood Dinnerware in the EDME pattern - Footed (pedestal) Round Compote. Look closely at the details on this beautiful piece with a creamy off-white background with tiny (each one is less than 1/32" in size) dark dots that are under the glaze which are lightly splattered under the glaze (see photo) - this is how this piece was manufactured. This elegant bowl has a raised ribbed design with the rim (top and bottom of the bowl) having a raised leaf-like design. This piece is marked on the bottom in indented letters "Wedgwood" and "Made in England ". The bottom is marked with a THREE LETTER MARK which Wedgwood used to date the time when a piece was made. The First Letter of the mark indicates the month of production and the Last Letter of the mark represents the year it was produced. The Middle Letter represents the potter of the piece. In 1907, the month letter was replaced with a constant number "3" and then in 1924 the month number was again replaced with a constant number "4". After 1929, Wedgwood no longer used three letter marks and began new dating systems. The date mark indented on the bottom is "4FA" dates this piece to being made in 1924. Condition This piece is in EXCELLENT USED Condition with NO Chips, NO Cracks, NO Crazing and NO Repairs. The inside bottom of the bowl has utensil scratches that are hard to see since t are no stains in the scratches. T are small sized (each one is less than 1/16" in diameter) glaze pops which occurred when this piece was made 84 years ago. Sorry about the light (shadows, white lines and white spots) reflections in the photos.
