This is an original and rare mid 1920s folding road map of the Coolidge, Twin Cities and Black Hills Route between Minneapolis and The Black Hills of South Dakota. This map is printed one side only and folds out to about 28.5" x 14". The cover panels indicate this map was published by the Coolidge, Twin Cities, Black Hills Association of Canby, Minnesota and read in part: Coolidge, Twin Cities and Black Hills Route - The Shortest Good Road To The Summer Capitol - Road Map - A Wonderful Summer Vacation - See the places you have read about, Deadwood Gulch, Spearfish Canyon, Hot Springs, Wind Cave, Harney Peak, The Needles, So. Dakota State Park, Sylvian Lake (the President's Summer Home), etc., over the best road through this country - For Information Address Coolidge, Twin Cities, Black Hills Ass'n, Canby, Minn. This map is not dated but was apparently published during the Coolidge Administration which would date it to the mid 1920s so call it circa 1925. The name Dow-Arneson Co. St. Paul is printed in the margin so evidently the map was produced by that company. The route shown was Highway 12 across Minnesota from Minneapolis to Granite Falls and then Route 18 through Canby to Clear Lake, South Dakota then State Route 15 South to US Route 14 west across South Dakota to US Route 16 into the Black Hills.
