Sharp and icy white, this 1925 San Francisco-minted Peace Dollar has received a very respectable CHOICE MS64 rating from PCGS. This near-gem has a brilliant luster few Peace Dollars could hope to match, with icy white reflections and a glossy sheen that really catches the eye. The devices are sharp and bold and stand out prominent against clear, silky-smooth fields which exhibit a superb cartwheel shine. This is an exceptional beauty I believe to be very close to the MS65 quality. Though over 1 million Peace Dollars were minted in San Francisco in 1925, most were long ago lost to circulation or destroyed during the massive bullion melts of the 1930s, making high-end specimens like this one very hard to find. Note that only 37 Peace Dollars have been graded higher than MS64 (all at MS65) by PCGS, making this silver piece one of the best of its kind. PCGS currently lists a value of $1,100 for the 1925-S Peace Dollar in MS64 grade.
