René Lalique designed two kinds of perfume bottles: Those which were destined to be sold by Lalique and filled with any perfume the buyer wished to use , about 70 designs, and those sold to parfumeurs who filled them with their own production. About 350 of those are repertoried and described in Felix Marcilhac's book on Lalique (the "Lalique Bible"). While the first kind was always signed "Lalique", the 2nd kind bore the parfumeur's signature, and usually not Lalique's. The designs are none the less his, recognized as such, and mentioned in "The Bible". The bottles were produced in the Lalique factory. T were some exceptions to this unwritten signature rule, when the parfumeur requested René Lalique to co-sign the bottle in recognition of his talent and prestige. , we have such an exception: It is the bottle designed by René Lalique in September 1925 for Worth's "Dans la Nuit" Eau de Toilette. It is described and photographed in Marcilhac's book on page 951 of the 2004 printing, and it bears the reference "Worth Nr 3". This is a 13,3 cm (5.3") tall bottle, 10 cm (4") in diameter, the 3rd highest in a series which had 5 sizes (3.2", 4", 5.3", 6.2" and 9.5" tall).
