1925 Rookwood Vase Double Handled Matte Yellow Butterscotch Glaze #2558 This little Rookwood vase came from a charming local family Estate Auction held outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Seems the family roots trace back to very early settler days of the Michigan Territory. This piece, is literally, fresh off the farm. It could certainly use a soft cleaning which I have not done (other than rinsed off bottom to read impress) and am selling this piece, exactly as purchased at auction. The condition is rather remarkable, considering it was pulled from the chicken coop. T are no apparent chips, cracks, repairs or unwarranted marks to this piece that I can detect. Think it's a great cabinet piece from an exciting Era of Arts & Crafts/Mission Rookwood. Approx. Measurements 4 3/4"H by 3 1/4"W by 2"Base Weight 9.2oz Rookwood Flame Mark XXV Form #2558 Yellow matte glaze is uniformly applied. Rich and buttery. Toffee-tones. Looks more Golden wheat, slightly paler, around the handles. It's the feel of the vase which I love. Feels smooth, soft, sensuous to hold in your hand. Tall squared handles. Great urn form. Nice lines. Appealing contrast with the rounded curved shape of the vase body. If you are a collector of Rookwood, or Mission Art Pottery, lover of all things Golden Yellow, this sweet little Rookwood vase would make a superb and worthy addition to your collection.
