1925 STANDARD OIL original GLASS GLOBE, for Gilbert and Bryant standard T-176 "Self Measuring Pump" gasoline pump - (and others with 7-inch mounting base) --- Fits on top of gas pump with 7-inch base ring......... This original glass globe is white glass, and has been sitting on top of the STANDARD OIL RED CROWN gasoline pump beside a filling station located in a very small town on the bank of the Ohio River in southern Illinois. We bought the pump to sit at the front of our Old Bay City General Store, south of Golconda, Illinois, and it is proudly bolted down and lighted for the passing world to see as traffic travels the Ohio River Scenic Byway. We were strongly advised by experts and collectors who deal with old pumps to not place the original top in an unprotected place - so we purchased a repro glass globe (expensive!) to complete the display, and are now offering the original globe to a collector who wishes an original..........The globe is in about 98% condition. T is one "BB" hole at the base, shown in picture, which is not any detriment to the structural integrity of the globe. At the top, along one of the casting seams, t is a small 1-inch discoloration w the elements were able to find an entry to the globe - this is NOT a crack, only a seam, and the top is structurally sound. Otherwise this globe is perfect ................ the metal mounting ring is on the glass globe, as can be seen, and the ring fits a 7-inch top socket, which was the usual size, I believe. The globe measures 16-1/2 inches from the inside top to the inside bottom...... The globe will be shipped in a special box made for a globe, and be well padded and insured for the full amount.
