1926 Deutsche Lufthansa Air Traffic Atlas 73 Fine Maps

Huge Fold Outs Color Advertising German Folio

Huge, comprehensive, and extremely rare Air Traffic Atlas Published by Deutsche Luft Hansa in 1926, the year it was founded.

Grosser Luftverkehrs - Atlas (Large Air Traffic Atlas). Berlin:1926. First Edition. Green gilt decorated cloth. Folio, 13.5" by 9.25". includes a complete list of air fare prices and air freight rates, photos and written descriptions of 108 airports (165 pages), and 73 large foldout two color maps of air routes on heavy acid free stock. A section of display ads (30 pages) Text is German.

Condition. First 8 leaves are detached, this includes the title page. These leaves are toned and chipped around the edges. The rest of the binding is tight and intact. The first 165 page section is toned, but flexible, completely legible- the toning doesn't mar the photos of the airports. The maps are on a much higher quality stock a smooth paper with a slight sheen, minute toning to some of the edges, other than that the maps are all in fine condition. The top board is slightly bowed and the binding is somehat cocked. The lettering on the top board is is worn and rubbed, the gilt lettering is gone on the spine. The head of the spine is shelf worn and shredded about 1/2". T is moderate rubbing and a few small stains to the boards overall.

This book is extremely rare. Despite extensive searches I was unable to find a comparable copy. It is a unique view of the earliest stage of commercial aviation.
