[17180] (Travel Diary). 1926 Travel Diary on the S.S. Orca Trip to Europe, with Signature of Calvin Coolidge, Map and Ephemeral Items. Travel diary of a trip to Europe via steamship Orca, Royal Mail line, dated July 17, 1926; with about 20 pages of written material, the rest blank; on one page (under Autographs) is the signature in ink of Calvin Coolidge; another page, in the same ink and apparently the same hand is a short anecdote, seemingly having to do with a ship-board incident; later in the diary there is an additional written note in this hand, a name and address in Boston; Coolidge was on board the boat traveling at this time , so all this is apparently authentic; diary is of passenger Mrs. Edith Collinson; notes regarding trips in Switzerland on Lake Geneva, more; nice chromolithographic illustrated title page and double-page lithograph of various funnels and house flags of principal Atlantic Steamship Lines; also includes a folding color world map at back of diary; a color postcard of Beatusstrasse am Thunersee (with previous owner message & address-not postally used); tipped-in is a 'Kur-Karte' of coupons to be used in Lucerne, unused, given by Hotel Beau-Rivage Luzern; and a "Seeing Zurich" tour information folder; soft leather binding, gilt spine titles, gilt decorative rule, all edges gilt; with original gold colored read more
