Dating from 1926 this ladies, pink gold Rolex cocktail watch is in totally original condition with the exception of the new old stock strap. Fashioned in solid gold, this delightful watch offered the pinnacle of movement technology for ladies cocktail watches in the inter-war years. Furthermore to the impressive stature of the movement, the watch was aesthetically formed to be at the very cutting edge of design for the era, the Art Deco influence clear in the dial layout. Rolex have a rich history of cocktail watches dating back to the Edwardian era when they were part of the pioneering spirit to progress the wristwatch at the expense of the pocket watch. Initially pocket watch movements were used by many, but by circa 1913 their infamous Rebberg movements graced some of the finest cocktail watches money could buy. Post WW1 saw Rolex produce increasing numbers of cocktail watches, typically round sunburst dials in 9ct cases; a trend that continued until the late 1930's. This particular example has a desirable engine turned dial with printed black Arabic hours at the cardinal positions and markers elsewhere. Its size is impressive too, a diameter of some 24mm (excluding the fixed lugs and winding crown) large in comparison to most of this era.
