Rare 1926 TB-Style O, 22 Fret The Gibson Tenor Banjo “No Reserve Auction” Super Pre-War Gibson TB Tenor Banjo Long Scale 22 Fret, this is a great banjo, I got it from a man who wants me to just sell it. I decided not to even really clean it up, it came to me just the way you see it. I thought it would be better if the winner could have all the fun, plenty of old Banjo stuff in the Neck pocket, “Case Gold” as I call it. This one has lots, it all tells the story. I am no banjo expert I gathered only some information on these. I know it is rare due to the fast that it is 22 fret. I hope some of you can shed some light on it. I appreciate all information shared. This is completely original as I have found it, there is some tape on the Resonator back, it has the original Weatherking Head too, this is a great find and would make a nice Banjo for the Luthier Player in you. HISTORY : The first Gibson banjo, the TB (tenor banjo) was announced in 1918. While the tenor banjo was devised at the turn of the century, the Gibson TB helped popularize the instrument among players and fans alike. In 1926 it was changed to an 11" head and came in Resonator. The finish during both years as an antique mahogany stain over maple. FEATURES : 22 Fret , 22 Brackets, Dark stained Maple neck, Dot inlay, Oval Gibson , Kalamazoo Badge on the inside, serial Number 8467-18 circa.1926 Also has some features of the TB-2 22 Fret, 37 “ overall length, 11” Head Size, 13 ¾” Across the Resonator Back. 'The Gibson' peghead logo, planet geared tuners with ivoroid buttons. Internal oval 'The Gibson', Gibson inc, Kalamozoo label. Serial No. 8524-89, the Resonator is Bound has a Gold Sparkle sides. Nice wood throughout. CONDITION : The Condition is good, no damage to report it is in need of a little spit and polish. This is just how it came to me. The person I bought if from had it since 1940 it was given to him by an Uncle in hopes he would play it, it never happened, this baby has sat in a nice climate closet for the last 60 years and now it’s up for auction. Everything you see here I got with it. This is a nice find. VALUE : They sell for as high as : $1800.00 on eBay, I see them kisted for a lot more, this one is a little rare seeing it has the 22 fret and the Reso back.
