1927 Indian CHIEF Tony TOMMY Everglades SURRENDER Description PLEASE SEE A DETAILED DESCRIPTION AFTER THE SCANS This is a RARE, ORIGINAL vintage 4 page article (2 pages of print and 2 pages of photos) from a May 1927 magazine. The article is entitled "The Last Surrender of an American Indian Chief" and was written by Kate Downing Ghent.This is a short but interesting and informative article of the thrilling and dramatic scene when Tony Tommy "Ha-Thon-wa-har-chee", the Seminole Indian Chief surrendered to the Great White Fathers the Everglades in Florida-He was the last American Chief who who passed over the traditional title with the poise of a real hero-unconquered.Names mentioned in the article include: Seminole Indian Chief Tony Tommy: Ha-Thon-wa-har-chee, Mr. Lon Worth Crow (President of the Miami Chamber of Commerce),and Mr. Charles Willard Nelson (translator) Pictures include: Chief Tony Tommy as he appeared after surrendering on February 5, 1927, a variety of 12 different pictures on 2 full pages (this could be matted and framed if so desired)of scenes at the impressive ceremonies attending the formal surrender of the Everglades to the Great White Father by Tony Tommy, the Seminole Indian Chief, and Mrs. Kate Downing Ghent (author of the article).NOTE: The pages have NOT been cut, they were only cropped for the scanning process. You will get the ENTIRE pages including their margins. This 81 year old item is in good condition (t is a piece torn off of the bottom left corner margin of all the pages-the only part of the print it affects is the 1st letter of one word on the first page the "s" in the word slowly (see lower left corner of my 1st scan) otherwise this torn off piece only affects the bottom margin of the other pages).
