1927-S Liberty Standing Quarter Dollar. NGC graded MS-67. NGC #1805761-001. A creamy color gem glittering with intense mint luster. The 1927-S in spectacular MS67 condition is far rarer as such than any other standing Liberty quarter, except for the 1918-S overdate. And it must always be remembered that this issue is not found with the same depth of strike over Liberty`s ear, as say, a 1927 Philadelphia Mint. There is always just a slight bit of softness in that area, even on the strongest 1927-S quarters. With only 396,000 pieces produced, the 1927-S is the principal rarity among regular issue standing Liberty quarters. It is even rarer than the 1916, though almost eight times as many coins were struck as the 1916; the 1916 was saved in substantial numbers as a `first year` design. Apparently very few noticed the low mintage for the 1927-S at the time, causing Mint State quarters in 1927 from the San Francisco mint to be rare today. A superb coin in all regards, this lovely brilliant example is tied with just four others for finest certified by NGC. More than adequately struck with shimmering white surfaces and field perfection that most can only dream about. Both obverse and reverse have vibrant underlying luster. Although this piece is not certified as Full Head, it is nevertheless noteworthy. What earthly reason could you have for not placing a bid? Pop 4; none finer (PCGS # 5764).
