They were minted from 1897 through 1935, and again in 1947 and 1949 Note: there were a total of 20 million coins with the 1935 L(ingot or bullion) B(ern mint) designation struck in 1945, 1946 and 1947. º Helvetias are an excellent choice for bulk gold investors looking for attractive, high quality, gold coins at low prices. They are exactly the same size and weight as French Roosters, containing .1867 troy ounce GOLD. The obverse of the Swiss Helvetia depicts “Vreneli,” the charming “Swiss Miss” of proverb, framed against the majestic Alps.
