In this auction we offer AT NO RESERVE this ORIGINAL 1928 SILK CONVENTION BADGE promoting the AMERICAN ELECTRIC RAILWAY ASSOCIATION and its forty-seventh convention held in Cleveland, Ohio, from September 22 through 28, 1928. This silk badge is marked "MANUFACTURER MEMBER " which means that the wearer represented a company that made either trolley cars or their accessory/support items. Picture one shows the front of the eighty year old badge. At top is a metal eagle with spread wings. Next is a rectangle into which the wearer inserted a name tag. Below the name box is a silk which bears the trademark of the AMERICAN ELECTRIC RAILWAY ASSOCIATION and the dates of the convention. At the very bottom of the credential are decorative bullion streamers. Picture two shows a close-up of the trademark of the association on the silk. Barely visible under the name box are eight oak leaves running across the silk. Next, enclosed in a circle stating "AMERICAN ELECTRIC RAILWAY ASSOCIATION" is a winged figure of a female. In her right hand she holds lightning bolts. She appears to be standing on trolley car wheels. Below her gown is printed "Founded 1882." The silk is titled in BOLD print "MANUFACTURER MEMBER." In gold is printed "47th CONVENTION," then "CLEVELAND, O." in blue, and, finally, "SEPT. 22-28, 1928" in gold. Picture three shows the read more
