Michels, "Wedgeway" straight razor with the word "Wedgeway" metal inlaid into ivory-colored celluloid scales. The razor is light and slim. The blade's tang is marked, "Peter J. Michels, Brooklyn N.Y., Made in Germany," along with the Peter J. Michels trademark of a bell shot through with an arrow. The tang's other side is marked, "Wedgeway." Peter J. Michels operated in New York City and Brooklyn, New York from 1914 to 1955 . Their Wedgeway razor style was sold in 1928. This razor has a 4/8 inch wide blade that shows evidence of hone wear. There are no nicks in the cutting edge, and it is free of any cracks. The blade has a 2 3/4 inch cutting edge and seems to be the original full length. The blade is lightly spotted with surface rust and light pitting. The scales have light nicks and scratches, but no cracks and the scales aren’t warped. The blade fits snugly between the scales. Insurance is required on all shipments and will be chargedwith a handling fee and included in the shipping quote. Handling fee reflects Ebay’s change in policy where they now charge the seller a 9% commission on the shipping costs.
