The artwork for the calendar was done by Adolph Heinze and titled "Crossley Lake and Pyramid Peak, Glacier National Park". Please refer to pictures and feel free to contact me with any questions. I'm also selling several other Great Northern Railroad single sheet calendars, so please check them out if you're interested. I will combine shipping if you purchase other pieces.

Adolph Heinze, {1887-1958}, A NATIVE OF Chicago, became a landscape painter who studied t with Karl Buehr and later was a student of William Merritt Chase. He was a member of the All-Illinois Fine Artists Association, Chicago Palette and Sculptors, and Chicago Gallery Association, w he exhibited in 1927. He also showed at the Municipal Art League.

Louis W. Hill, owner of the Great Northern Railway, in order "to sell the West to the prospective traveler," hired artists including Adolph Heinz, Charles. M. Russell, Joseph Scheuerle, Kathryn W. Leighton, and John Fery, to paint Montana's picturesque Glacier Park scenery. THEY WERE KNOWN AS HIS "SAGEBRUSH REMBRANDTS". Heinze painted Rocky Mountain landscapes in the 1920s, including "Mountain Trail", oil, 30" x 24", c. 1928, in the collection of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad of Fort Worth, Texas. Heinze completed many western landscape paintings including major works of Glacier Park, its lodges and famous red buses, the Rocky Mountains and Wyoming's "Grand Tetons". It has been said that the mountains did not suit him well and he returned after a short while to Illinois.
