This is an original undated, but circa 1929, sales brochure entitled "Farming for Profit with United Tractors & Equipment" from the United Tractor and Equipment Company of Chicago, Illinois. The size is 8 1/2 x 11 in. and 20 pages. It is in very fine condition with some rubs on the binding, a 1 in diagonal fold at the lower right corner of the front cover and a 3/4 x 3/4 in surface tear due to sticker removal just below "for" on the front cover.

The front cover (see scan) has a colorful drawing of the United tractor and page 4 has three different views (see scan) of the tractor. The United Tractor & Implement Co. was an unusual organization of over 30 independent implement makers and distributors who had banded together to ..."serve the needs of modern agriculture". Their purpose was ...."to produce and market an entirely new and revolutionary tractor and a complete line of equipment specially designed to give remarkable results when used with this new power unit". The United tractor was actually built by one of its members, the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. [Of course the "United" tractor was actually the A-C Model "U" but with the "United" logo appearing on the radiator].

The brochure is filled with great illustrations including one of the United engine (see scan). The centerfold has a great 2-page illustration of the United 3-plow tractor in brilliant copper color (see scan) and note the "United" logo at the top of radiator and "Allis Chalmers" in raised letters on the side of the radiator. On page 18 (see scan) is a cut-a-way view of the left side of the tractor and on page 20 (see scan) are pictured several of the modern factories win United tractors and equipment are built.

This item should be of interest to owners of "United" tractors and Allis-Chalmers model "U" tractors and tractor advertising collectors, and rural life, farm scene, and farm machinery advertising collectors and United Tractor & Equipment Co., Chicago, IL and Allis-Chalmers and "United" memorabilia collectors.
