1929 RARE VOODOO VOUDOUN BLACK MAGIC CORPSE SORCERY The lucky winner will receive William Seabrooks account of the Black Magic Voodoo rights practiced in Haiti at the turn of the last century. The author, William Seabrook was a drinking companion of Aleister Crowely and had a lifelong interest in the unusual and the occult. Seabrook was so passionate about his researches into strange practices that he ate a substantial amount of human flesh when studying cannibalism. Seabrook offers first hand accounts of Voodoo rituals and Black Magic Sorcery practices by the Voodoo elite. THE MAGIC ISLAND By W.B. Seabrook Illustrated with photographs by the author and Drawings by Alexander King Published 1929 " Oh Serpent God, We Come!" •••••PARTIAL CONTENTS••••• • The Voodoo Rites • Secret Fires • The Petro Sacrifice • The God Incarnate • Black Sorcery • The Altar of Skulls • Dead Men Working in the Cane Fields • The Black Queen's Court • The Soul of Haiti • And Many Other Sections "Various instructions were given and translated, offerings to be put on graves, exorcisms to be pronounced, ouangas to be made with parts of human corpses" "As I say, it occurred only after the coffin had been lowered into the grave, sprinkled with holy water, marked with the sign of the cross. As the final solemn "Requescat In Pace" was about to be pronounced, t was a sharp pause, a quick consultation among the priests, doubt, suspicion, horror reflected on their faces, then a stern whispered order, and the coffin was dragged up from holy ground. No one had a screw driver, but the lid was pried open with a machete borrowed from a peasant in the crowd, exposing to view not the whole interior of the coffin, but the head and shoulders of the deceased....the head did not resemble anything human..but surmounted by two horns, like those of the devil himself. In short, it was the head of a great he-goat..a pagan, hairy, dreadful, dead he goat which the innocent now outraged priests had been blessing and sprinkling with holy water and marking with the sign of the cross and committing to holy ground.." "..blood maddened, sex maddened, god maddened....danced their dark saturnalia.."Book is bound hardback in black with embossed title on spine. 336 pages in length some shelfwear to corners and ends and spots on boards as to be expected for a nearly 80 year old book, would make a nice addition to any occult library A fascinating early account of authentic Voodoo Black Magic Rituals and Practices. An ideal addition to a library of Black Magic.
