A great series of ACOUSTIC and early Electric Armenian and Turkish recordings, from Ottoman Turkey to Californian Armenian Bands in the 1940s. This week I will be offering over 30 rare records. Pls make sure to check my other auctions. Early Electric recording on SUPER QUIET Columbia Viva Tonal Surface. Armenag Shah-Mouradian (1878-1939) is considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Armenian singers of all time. Born in Moush, the son of a blacksmith, he was known as the "Armenian Caruso" as well as the "Nightingale of Daron" (Daroni Sokhag). Shah-Mouradian tenor in two Armenian religious songs Hishestsouk - Kisheri / Ourakh Ler 10" 78 rpm record Condition: Excellent minus, superquiet, tiny open blister on Hishest may cause Armenag Shah-Mouradian (1878-1939) is considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Armenian singers of all time. Born in Moush, the son of a blacksmith, he was known as the "Armenian Caruso" as well as the "Nightingale of Daron" (Daroni Sokhag). He sang at the Paris Opera. He was a personal student of Gomidas, the master of Armenian music, and was considered the greatest interpreter of Gomidas' songs. He made many 78 rpm records in his time, some with Gomidas at the piano. These records are rare today, but a reissue of his and Gomidas' singing has been put out by Traditional Crossroads. Many Armenians in the 20's and 30's owned these records, and the first diaspora-born generation which grew up hearing their parents play them were enchanted by Shah-Mouradian's voice as a call from the "old country." The Armenian-American writers William Saroyan and David Kherdian, among others, both allude to this and Saroyan even wrote a poem entitled "To the Voice of Shah-Mouradian." Shah-Mouradian also toured the various Armenian communities of the Diaspora before his death in Paris, at the same hospital where his teacher Gomidas passed away. Mint - I don't give. It would only apply to never played dealer stock. Excellent - like new, no greying. E- may have lightest traces of greying but of no sonic impact. Very Good - your average record with mild greying, and mild distortions. I consider records up to VG enjoyable quality records. Good - pronounced wear and other defects, may still sound good with some sound processing. All other defects (scratches, scuffs, cracks) will be seperately stated. Also: as a SUBJECTIVE guide, I may make statements about the listening experience of the record. SUPERQUIET: Basically no surface noise; rare, only Viva Tonal, Odeon and Electrola records usually get this. VERY VERY QUIET: Astonishingly quiet for a given pressing of record. Very Quiet: Much quieter than expected (e.g. a 1916 Columbia pressing without crackle, or a Victor Orthophonic record without slight hiss) Quiet: on the good side of what to expect for a given record type, but some light noise. Somewhat noisy: More surface noise than expected. Noisy: Unusual high noise for a given type of record. ==== Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.
