is a unique glossy card which came with a chunk of Baguer Chocolate. These tiny (5/8" x 7/8") cards were issued in Cuba in 1930. They are rare. On today's card we see Brooklyn Dodgers Manager Wilbert "Uncle Robbie" Robinson. Robinson was a fine catcher with the Baltimore Orioles (they were in the National League) and several other teams for 17 seasons from 1886 through 1902. He was known for his defense but also was an excellent hitter, compiling a .273 lifetime batting average. However, it was as a Manager that he earned his Hall of Fame credentials. From 1914 through 1931, he managed the formerly hapless Brooklyn Dodgers. He was so popular that, during his reign, the team was affectionately known as the "Robins." He led the Bums to the National League Pennant in 1916 and 1920 (their only championships between 1901 and 1941), but after that, the internal fighting between the owners simply killed his chances. Still, Uncle Robbie managed to achieve a better than .500 record during his 18 seasons. He was a great mentor to pitchers--especially Hall of Famers Dazzy Vance and Burleigh Grimes. He also managed several players who went on to become Hall of Fame Managers themselves--especially Casey Stengel and Al Lopez. Robinson was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1945. The card itself has a bit of wear in the bottom left corner. It also has some waves (not really wrinkles) by which I mean it doesn't lie exactly flat. It also has a couple of miniscule indentations--which you will need a magnifying glass to see. On the whole, it is a terrific card. It is unbelievably bright and glossy. The photo of Robinson is absolutely 100% perfect. If it does not appear perfect in the scan, that is because I had to really enlarge the scan. In my opinion, this card will grade VG/EX. Please see the scans. $2.00 s/h. No PayPal. Personal check is OK. It is hard to imagine that you will ever see a Wilbert Robinson Baguer card in better condition than this one--even if you look for another 78 years.
